MiCO Project Structure
MiCO is led by a team of researchers at the Marine Geospatial Ecology Lab (MGEL) of Duke University, with support from a growing number of partner organizations who contribute expertise and guidance. Drs. Patrick Halpin and Daniel Dunn are the project Co-PIs, with participation by lab members on both literature review and infrastructure development. We have individual leadership for each of the four taxa (fish, marine mammals, seabirds, and sea turtles) along with student participation in reading and parsing publications for our literature review. Infrastructure development is being completed by our system developers, who have extensive experience with large geospatial repository portals including OBIS-SEAMAP, SWOT, BirdLife’s Seabird Tracking Database, SERDP, and others. Guidance for all aspects of the project is provided by the three expert advisory panels on our MiCO Steering Committee.
