Halpin Lab contributes to Google Earth
Duke Scientist Joins Gore, Google In Unveiling Ocean Resource
The Marine Geospatial Ecology Lab was instrumental in creating the Census of Marine Life layer in the latest release of Google Earth, which includes many enhancements in displaying the oceans- from breaking the surface of sea level, detailed views of the sea floor, and creating "landmarks" off dry land. The lab's Census of Marine Life Mapping & Visualization project developed many of the placemarks in the new Google Ocean's layer and Dr. Halpin was part of the press unveiling at the Google headquarters.
